Good Vibes and How it can Change Your Way of Thinking

Hey friends, why is having good vibes important in your life you may ask! It’s all about mindset and no one says it better than Henry Ford.

How can I get to a Good Vibes place . . .

First you don’t just get to a good vibes place and stay there (which I used to think). It is an ongoing adventure! It may sound like a really simple concept but trying to do it in your life is another story. What I mean is trying to keep on going with a good mindset when things aren’t going your way or things are going great and then all of sudden your horse gets hurt! Life is going to always throw you curve balls. It’s how you deal with them that matters. I set out on improving my mindset and boy let me tell you it is not as simple as you want it to be. But I would do it again in a heartbeat. The way you look at your life and its challenges is everything!!

I had been thinking about changing my life for a few years but when I really had to get my butt in gear was the beginning of 2018. I quit my good paying oil field job (my family though I was crazy) with nothing else lined up. I didn’t know what I wanted to do but I knew in my heart that I didn’t want to do that (it just wasn’t what I wanted my life to be and if I am honest, I hated it). I will talk about that transition in my life another time! That summer I started my business, started barrel racing again (hadn’t barrel raced in 3 years), lived with my parents and had to pick up my old job at the golf course. Life should be getting better right because I was moving in the direction I wanted. Boy did I get a wake-up call! I was not where I wanted to be in any aspect of my life and I started comparing myself to everyone (which is a deep dark rabbit hole). I was still getting down because I wasn’t where I thought I should be so I decided to go on a journey to fall in love with the process of life!


What are some tools that helped me?

The way I started was reading every self-help book I could get my hands on (I think I worried my mother just a little bit with my choice of reading material). This turned into watching YouTube videos and listening to podcasts and inspirational people! It all started to help. Warning… give it time it didn’t come overnight! One of my favorite books is “You are a Badass” by Jen Sincero. Don’t just write it off thinking it is just another boring self-help book. I was laughing, inspired, and ready to kick some butt. I am telling you I couldn’t put it down!! Another book I actually just started yesterday that I am already in love with is “Girl Stop Apologizing” by Rachel Hollis! There a reason it is on the best seller list.


Whits-Therapy-Good-VibesI bet you thought this blog was primarily about horses… so where do the good vibes come in?

Anything you do in life is tied to your mindset. Having a Good Vibes mentality will take you from just getting through life to excelling with vibrant colors. Ok so if your angry and think the world is scheming against you or if your calm, centered and in a good vibes place before you ride or work with your horse which do you think will go better? I am telling you I have done both and it is much easier/ more fun to do it the second way! Believe me your horse will thank you too!! It will bring you closer together and make everything more enjoyable. I bet it will also help you reach your goals faster.
